Hornby Railways dates back to 1901 and is the leading brand of model railway in the United Kingdom. Frank Hornby founded the company officially in 1907 and the first trains were powered by a high quality clockwork motor, made of metal pressings held together by Meccano nuts and bolts. The first electric train was introduced in 1925 operating from a mains supply of 100-250 volts.
