In 1994, McDonald's released a series of Happy Meal toys based on the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Sega Genesis/Mega Drive video game. There were five toys released in the set; a Sonic the Hedgehog wheeled launcher toy, a spinning Knuckles toy, a flying Tails launcher, a wind up Dr. Robotnik toy, and a yellow ball with Sonic and Tails on it was also available upon request by the customer for children under three years old.
